Sahara Desert

    1.    Do not trust anyone.  Especially English speakers.
    2.    Bottle water (1.5L) should cost you 6MAD.
    3.    Do not ignore scammers, they will verbally harass you if you don’t respond.  Look and smile at them.  Lie to them, make something up.  Ask them questions that they might not know the answer to.  Have fun.
    4.    The local hammam bath should cost only 20MAD.  Your hostel will take you to a tourist hammam bath and charge a lot more, even though you asked for a local one.
    5.    Do not believe directions given to you.
    6.    Always ask for the price for ANYTHING.
    7.    Do not take the harassment from scammers personally. They harass EVERYONE.  Smile, joke around. Have fun!
    8.    If someone can speak English, chances are they want to scam you.
    9.    Do NOT join desert tours unless you’re willing to get ripped off during lunch (7euros), be taken to a carpet shops, and sit in the van for 3 days.  I did join a desert tour because I didn’t have time.
    10.    Take local buses, arrange trips on your own.
    11.    Remember, you’re always the boss.  You are the one with money
    12.    Pay NO more than 5 MAD for any services.
    13.    Couchsurfing:  Especially around the desert area.  Chances are if you do stay with them, they will try to sell you tours.
