Eckley is a restored 19th century antracite coal mining village that was settled in 1854. The site includes a museum which focuses on the everyday life of a miner and his family through displays, exhibits, and audio visual means. Our village has 58 restored homes and buildings, 10 of these structures are avilable to be seen through a guided walking tour.
Provider's Events:
1. View Guided Walking Tour of the Village - Tour of our sites museum will be given as well as a tour of our historic village. The village includes restored nineteenth century buildings such as a miners home, two laborers houses, mine owners home, a Catholic and Protestant churches, a breaker, and a doctors office.
2. View Slide Show on Athracite Coal Mining - Slide show along with living historians portraying anthracite coal miners on stage will present an indepth look at Anthracite coal mining from the 1850s into the 21st century.
