Description:The Intrepid Museum is a World War II aircraft carrier docked on the west side of New York City. For 22 years this unique floating museum has been a source of inspiration and education for school children in NY and the surrounding areas. The museum has a staff of full time educators who write and teach all our science and 20th century American history workshops. The Intrepid and its 31 year history make it the perfect place to learn about aviation, WWII and the heroes who fought for our country during that time.

During Heroes Remembered we answer these questions by taking a look at the men and women who fought for this country during WWII. We look at the men and women who are often overlooked such as the WAVES, the Tuskegee Airmen and others. We discuss the important roles they played and the path they blazed for future generations. We ask why we remember them. What made them heroes? How are our heroes remembered? Using still photos, animation and museum exhibits students learn, have fun and never forget those who sacrificed so much for our country!
