These 40 minute sessions were developed using established national science standards as a framework for fun interaction. Prior to the sessions, teachers are mailed a package of materials, curriculum, and extensions for their class to participate in during their upcoming lesson
Provider's Events:
1. View Motion Mania - Motion Mania takes a closer look at Newton’s Laws of Motion using four group explorations: Marble in a Cup, Newton’s Pull, Balloon Rocket, Hand-Held Friction, and Friction Cubes.
· Marble in a Cup explores Newton’s First Law of Motion that objects in motion tend to stay in motion, and objects at rest tend to stay at rest unless some outside force acts upon them.
· Newton’s Pull explores Newton’s Second Law of Motion, which depicts the relationship between force, mass, and acceleration.
· Balloon Rocket explores Newton’s Third Law of Motion that states that for every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction.
· Hand-Held Friction explores the force of friction in relation to energy and how different surfaces may increase or decrease that force.
· Friction Cubes explores how we use friction and the role it plays in every day events.
