Students from Stamford High School researched, prepared, and produced this Virtual Field Trip tied to National Education Standards. This VFT reinforces fundamental knowledge students already have in geography, history and science. Students get hands-on insight into the importance of cotton during the Civil War and how Eli Whitney's cotton gin affected the industry and the economy of the South. Students get to take a video trip out to a cotton field and have hands-on activities with real cotton bolls. In addition, they take a virtual tour of a working cotton gin and learn about the growing/ginning process and the importance of the cotton industry today.
